publish to wix blog

Publish to Wix Blog from the editor

Connect Wix Blog once, then send articles from WritingTools as a private draft or a live post. Nothing is scheduled.

How to connect

  1. In Wix, create an API key that can manage blog posts.
  2. Copy the site ID for the site that owns the blog.
  3. Name the connection and paste both values on the Integrations page.
  4. Publish from the editor. A draft stays in Wix until you choose Published.

Good to know

  • A published item goes live. A draft stays in the Wix blog editor.

Other destinations: WordPress, Ghost, Webflow, Blogger, Webhook, API.

Wix Blog, with a site ID and a blog key

The Wix connection posts to Wix Blog. It needs three things you type yourself: a name for the connection, the site ID, and an API key that is allowed to manage blog posts. The name is required because the site ID is not a label you will recognize later. The key is checked by creating a test draft and removing it. If that draft cannot be created, the key cannot manage the blog, or the site ID is for a different site.

Connect, then decide draft or live

  1. 1

    Create the key in Wix

In the Wix dashboard, create an API key with permission to manage blog posts. Copy the site ID of the site that owns the blog, not a different site in the same account.

  2. 2

    Name it on Integrations

Open the Wix card, give the connection a name you will recognize in the editor, and paste the site ID and key. Saving is part of Premium.

  3. 3

Send a draft from the editor

A draft stays in the Wix blog editor. Published sends the post live. Read the draft in Wix before you choose Published. WritingTools does not schedule the post for later.

What this does not set up

Wix Stores, Wix events, and static pages are not this connection. If the blog is not installed on the site, the test draft fails. Members and comments stay in Wix. The editor sends the article. Open it on the site if the theme’s blog card crops the title or the image differently than the editor preview.

You can connect more than one Wix site. Each one has its own name, site ID, and key. Replace the key from Edit if you rotate it in Wix, so the old key is not left on the card.

Read the post in the Wix blog, not only in the editor

Wix themes crop titles, excerpts, and cover images according to the blog layout. A heading that fits the editor can wrap badly in the post list. Send a draft, open the Wix blog editor, and look at the list view and the post view. Set the excerpt and the cover there if the theme expects them and the draft arrived without them. Then choose Published from WritingTools only if you do not need those extra fields, or publish from Wix after you have set them.

The API key’s permission is the whole security boundary. A key that can manage blog posts can create posts. Store it in the connection, not in a shared document. If you create a new key in Wix, edit this connection and replace the old one. Disconnect when the site should stop receiving drafts. The name you gave the connection is what the editor shows, so a name like the site’s domain is more useful than “Wix 2.”

Richer Wix content, such as a store product or a static page section, is outside this card. For a custom system that should receive the same article as JSON, use a webhook instead of stretching the blog API. If the test draft is removed and you never see it, that is the success case: the check creates it and deletes it. A draft you send later from the editor is a different post, and that one stays until you publish or delete it in Wix. Keep the site ID next to the site name in your own notes, because the ID is not shown on the public blog. A second Wix site needs a second connection with its own site ID. Reusing the ID from a different site creates the test draft in the wrong blog, which is easy to miss if you only look at the success message.

Other ways to publish, besides Wix

Use the destination that already hosts the article. Each setup is different.

Wix publishing is part of Premium

You can read the steps on the free plan. Saving the connection and sending a draft or a live post from the editor uses the Premium plan on the pricing page. Exporting a file does not.
