writing tools ai api

Pull your published articles into your own product

Create an API key on the Integrations page, then read published collection documents from your own app or dashboard. This key is for reading—not for publishing from the editor.

How to connect

  1. Open Integrations and find the API card.
  2. Create an API key (Premium). Copy it somewhere safe.
  3. Send it as the x-api-key header when you call POST /api/public/collections.
  4. Replace the key anytime from the same card if it was shared by mistake.

Good to know

  • The API key does not appear in the editor Publish menu.
  • Publishing to WordPress, Ghost, Webflow, Wix, Blogger, or a webhook uses those connections instead.

Other destinations: WordPress, Ghost, Webflow, Wix, Blogger, Webhook.

Read published articles from your own app

The API key lets your product or dashboard read published collection documents from WritingTools. It does not publish posts and it does not appear in the editor Publish menu.

Create the key

  1. 1

    Open Integrations

Find the API card under your site connections.

  2. 2

    Create and copy the key

Creating a key is part of Premium. Store it somewhere safe. Replace it from the same card if it was shared by mistake.

  3. 3

    Call the collections endpoint

Send the key as the x-api-key header on POST /api/public/collections to read published documents.

Other ways to publish, besides API

Use the destination that already hosts the article. Each setup is different.

API publishing is part of Premium

You can read the steps on the free plan. Saving the connection and sending a draft or a live post from the editor uses the Premium plan on the pricing page. Exporting a file does not.
